Video Editing Practice Blog ReflectionAs I continue with Aice Media Studies, I have worked with Premiere Pro, an editing program that allows creativity and endless opportunities with a wide array of tools and capabilities. To gain knowledge on how I can learn the basics on operating the program with understanding and professionalism, I have viewed videos from The Academy of Scholastic Broadcasting on how I can make use of imperative tools for a foundation on editing. The videos included learning on every aspect of the production before even engaging in editing on the software. Every step from making sure my media is ready and tweaking my audio. While watching these tutorial videos, I have been working on learning more about the software on my own and testing it out. As I worked on these tutorial videos, I understood what it took to prepare media and work with the organization of these clips so that I could have an easy transition into editing. I have been able to learn about finding these clips and working with the organization of the types of media available and then edit it before it goes into a timeline.

Doing the clip as a whole was very enjoyable because I could watch my vision for my video unfold before my eyes. It was entertaining choosing what aspects of my B-Roll I wanted to incorporate as transitions for my interviews. Putting my audio in my clip so that there would be a welcoming and fun and playful atmosphere about my video made it very enjoyable. Putting my audio at the start and end of my clip made my clip feel more whole. It took some patience as I experimented and tried and failed.

During these trial and error phases, I was still learning how to get more comfortable with using the software. During my own clip production, there were a number of challenges I encountered, some of which included understanding how I could use audio to make it so that some elements were clearer than others. Also, I struggled with understanding sequences, as I struggled with figuring out what it meant, but then again I realized after I added a new sequence, it would make it simpler so that not everything is complicated. Lastly, as for challenges, I wanted to make it so that my transitions were cleaner and more on my own timing, but it would not be possible as I wanted it because my own timing would not be feasible.

Going forward, I would like to learn more about making it so that I'm more familiar with timing as well as transition types so that I could make it more smooth.

Although there were obstacles that came with making the clip, I was successful at several things. Several things I was successful with were based on my outlook on the basics. The B-roll, in particular, was enjoyable for me to work with as I got to incorporate the technique of overlap so that there would be smooth transitions from interviews to footage that would illustrate what I was talking about within my interviews. I would be able to make my clip look more cohesive as a result. I would also be able to organize it with folders that were suggested within these tutorials.

Overall, I will be applying what I have learned from making this clip to practice working with this software. I will be applying the basics so I can learn how to make a foundation for projects on my own and better learn ways I can apply it. I will be applying it to learn more about what I have yet to learn about editing and then applying it so I can learn more about what tools I can use with adobe. It will help me with my portfolio project as it will also help me with some major aspects related to my project. First, it will assist me with editing my media and thus enable me to work effectively regarding my usage of the timeline feature. Not only will it help me with that, but it will allow me to learn more about additional minute particulars that I will be wanting to incorporate into my portfolio project with more projects made on the software.
