Camera Work Reflection
I have been learning the different camera shots, movements and angles. I have been learning what kind of emotions and ideas different mixes of camera work can create in an audience. For each project, I have had to first learn and understand the different camera shots and movements as well as the angles to then understand how they can add to a story.
For one project, I had to create a story about an inanimate object, and for this I had to use 15 different camera shots. These different shots helped give every picure a diferent mood.
I also had to film a short film about a story in which a character thought everyone forgot his birthday but then at the end his friends came and reminded him that he was important and that they remembered his birthday.
I also had to complete a camera technique scavenger hunt in which I had to recognize different camera techniques used in movies or TV shows on netflix or similar.
I successfully completed both these projects by doing what they required and creating moods and feelings with camera work. Challenges I had at first were figuring out how to achieve these things correctly.
I learned firstly the effects of the different camera elements and their effect on the audience as well as learning how to successfully and effectively using them. I also learned to be patient and not get frusturated with camera work as it is a new subject for me. I have actually began to love camera work and the thought process behind everything that has to do with media.
Something I would do differently next time is definitely plan with my time better as well as have a better plan of what camera techniques I can use to effectively convey the feelings I want conveyed.
